Time tracking items are the things you use when invoicing your customers for time you spent on a project/service. These time tracking items are stored in the Time Tracking List.
You can add new time tracking items whenever you want to track time for a particular project or service. The time tracking item stores the information that is required to invoice for the time, including the name of the project, the description of the work being done and the rate you are billing for your time per hour. You also select the bookkeeping account you want to use to track the sale of your time once you use the item on an invoice.
After you create the time tracking item, you add your time to the item by creating time entries using the timer.
To add a new time tracking item:
Click the Items tab to open the Items List.
Click Time Tracking tab to open the Time Tracking List.
Click the New Time Tracking Item button in the sidebar.
Type a name for the item. The item name must be unique.
This name will appear in the Time Tracking List and will be what you will use to track all the time spent on the project/service. It is also the name you select on the invoice.
Enter the rate (price) per hour that you are charging your customer for your time.
Choose the account you want to use to track the revenue from the sale of this item.
(Optional) Add an item description. This description will be displayed on the invoice.
Click Save.
