Step 3: Importing Your Contacts List

WorkingPoint can import contact information from other applications in Gmail vCard and Apple vCard or Outlook CSV (comma-separated values) formats. You first export the contacts from your existing address book or email program, and then import that file into WorkingPoint.

Tip: Before exporting your contacts from your address book or email program, review your contacts' records.  You can clean up information that has changed (like deleting old email addresses). Also, check to make sure your contacts have a first and last name in their records. Not having the first and last names is one of the common reasons why a particular contact does not get imported.

To import contact information from other applications:

  1. Export the contact information from the other application into Gmail vCard and Apple vCard or Outlook CSV format. Show me how

  1. In WorkingPoint, click the Contacts tab and then click the Import link.

  1. Click Browse to choose the file to import.

  1. Click Import Contacts.

The time it takes to import will vary based on how many contacts you have.

When the import is completed, WorkingPoint will tell you how many contacts were imported and how many did not get imported. You will see a list of the first 10 contacts that did not get imported (with a link to see additional contacts). If WorkingPoint found duplicate contacts (contacts that are in your exported file, but already in your WorkingPoint Contacts List), you will see a list of those contacts as well. Note: You can cancel an import prior to clicking the final Import Contacts button by clicking the Cancel your import & go back to your Contacts List  link.
