Deleting an account or subaccount*

If you aren't using an account, you can delete it. However, you can’t delete an account if there are any associated items or transactions or if the account has subaccounts. but you can make it inactive to hide it from view in the Accounts List and in menus.  If an account is protected (meaning WorkingPoint requires the account), you can’t delete it, make it Inactive, move it, add subaccounts to it, or rename it.

To delete an account:

  1. If the account has any transactions, move them to another account.

  2. From the Accounts List:

Move the pointer to the left of the account and click the Trashcan to delete.

Notes:

  • If you want to delete an account that has associated transactions, delete the transactions or use the Move Entries feature to move the transactions to a new account and try deleting the account again.

  • If the account has an opening balance, you can still delete the account, but the opening balance transaction will be deleted.

  • If you delete an account that is connected to a financial institution, WorkingPoint will automatically remove the connection. More

  • If you change your mind about the deletion, click Undo in the message box to reverse your action.

*Access to this feature may depend on your account plan. Log into your WorkingPoint account and click "Account" (in the upper right hand corner), then "Change account plan" to view your plan details.
